* WHAT...Up to one foot of inundation above ground level expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline. * WHERE...In New Jersey, Hudson, Eastern Essex and Eastern Union Counties. In New York, Richmond (Staten Island), Kings (Brooklyn), Southern Queens and Southern Nassau Counties. * WHEN...Until 10 AM EST Friday. * IMPACTS...Minor to locally moderate flooding in the more vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline. Some roads and low lying properties including parking lots, parks, lawns, and homes and businesses with basements near the waterfront will experience minor flooding. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Localized moderate flooding for Southern Nassau and Southern Queens during the morning high tide cycle on Friday. Elsewhere, for tonight's high tide cycle only, minor flooding may be only localized. Minor coastal flooding is also likely with the morning high tide cycle on Saturday and may also be possible on Sunday. Information: If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. |

There is an increased risk of fire spread on Friday with northwest winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts to 20 mph and minimum relative humidity values of 20 to 25 percent. This will lead will to increased fire spread if ignition occurs. New York state has declared a burn ban through November 30. Otherwise, burning is strongly discouraged. Use extra caution if handling any potential ignition sources, such as machinery or matches, and ensure to properly extinguish or dispose cigarette butts. |
